A beautiful mission to help children in Africa blossom through technology…
This year we had the privilege of assisting an ever-charitable teen from Canada launch her second Solar-powered computer lab for children in Malawi.
“Advocating for more support for education equality in developing countries, exploring the possibility of sustainable IT facilities and empowering children worldwide.” That is the mission of Sofie Roux who started BloomBox.
With her dream to make IT facilities accessible for children in developing countries, Sofie got together a team to assist her in making this possible.
Using her access to resources and passion for architecture, Sofie’s research led her to designing a Solar-powered computer lab made from a converted container.
After successfully launching the first such Computer Lab in 2021, Sophie reached out to Container Land with an incredible plan on how to get the project done, sustainably – for a second time in 2022.
In July 2022 Sofie travelled all the way from Canada to Cape Town to see the container we built and then took the trip up to Malawi – to have another solar-powered IT centre opened in Blantyre.
Learn more about this project from 17-year-old Sofie herself in a phenomenal TED Talk she entitled, “Their purpose is My Purpose”.
AN UPDATE
Bloom Box originator, Sofie Roux takes the TedX stage in where she share’s her journey on creating an educational space for children in Malawi. We are beyond honoured to have been part of bringing this idea to life by converting the container, which now lives in Malawi.
